Ronny's right hand man - DJ RoKK, formerly of Cock .
Perched high up upon his pedestal, surveying the seedy scenes of the Sunday night social set to take Shore ditch by storm is Rokk...DJ. If you haven't unwittingly stumbled onto his peripheries at some point, you willl have undoubtedly dabbled amongst the dub-stepping, reverberated rhythms that catapulted him from COCK to Boom box, then on to an assortment of international arenas all but unknown to your average home-grown spin-doctor. This balding badbuoy is a bit of super-hero in specific postal code zones, more importantly for his music than the hostess of the most -est in cool, his crew keeps company to: The legendary likes of Justice, Busy P, Dj Mehdi, Bang Gang, Roisin Murphy, Kylie, Trevor Jackson and The Glimmers who frequently frequent his whimsical whereabouts.
It all went a trifle quiet in his corner... for a bit, until a call from Ronny got him all rubbered up and raring to roll back into the rave revival. With fresh mixes, glitched playlists and a fresh flurry of infectious fabulousness Rokk is here to bring it back to where it belongs. Enough with the wankfests and weekends of k-holed crap fuelling only kids, cunts suicide Sundays and squalor...

Enter a night of social superiority, only the utmost educated entertainers and bare burlesque bass beats, fierce enough to leave you sweating, sobbing and crying out in the name of class............RONNY's
As resident Dj's of Ronny's disco, what do you plan to bring to the party?
Just a bit of fun, a bit of nostalgia, just keeping it fun mostly. I think the way everything is going with the clubbing scene at the moment has all got a bit full on so just trying to keep i fun for sunny Sunday afternoon.
How do you plan to keep the crowds entertained?
Take all my clothes off.....
Sum up your sound in one savvy sentence.
Hip, house funk, pianos and...shit, l' m going back to the old school with the inner-city roll. BRING BACK 90's!
Have you been involved in any other D.I.Y nights aboot the East-end?
I play at Trailer Trash and l do a few parties here and there and l' m playing at Joiners a bit now. I'll pop along to anything that is a mass play-out really.
So what else is on the agenda?
I did my first fashion show for Marios Schwab the other day. really good fun, it was a good process, it was the first time l' d ever done anything like that and l did' nt really know what l was doing to start off with! Working with Marios was really good, he's very defined in what he wants to produce in terms of sound and feel, its a great environment hopefully in Autumn l will be orchestrating the music for more high fashion shows.
Wow, you're really branding your bad ass out..... What next Rokk cutlery sets and stationary cases?
I want to try most things, l do a bit of photography and now l' ve worked with fashion l 'm really going to push myself trying different areas and keep busy. I've got a couple more remixes on the way and I’ve been writing more, loads more stuff coming out in the summer.
Will all that be out on commericial release?
That depends if it get much play, it may get a bit of commercial play that way. I'm in this for myself now, just wanna play what l want, when l want, hence Ronny’s.
Is the club kids era dead and gone, should we be donning our tool belts for the new dawning of D.I.Y. days?
I think so, Shore ditch itself is dying a death in my opinion and it's going up Hackney and down to Dalston now, moving out of this area because its got taken over by the Essex crowds that have finally realized that Shore-ditch is a great place to hang out. l think it's in that transitional stage, we started with Boom box and it was so hyped, it was such a big thing that it's lead to a lull in the level of people putting on a party themselves. Now people want to do it themselves and they are going a bit further East and playing very eclectic stuff , doing they're own mixes and putting their own sound out there. Everybody is a DJ and is doing they're own stuff, that’s a good thing, that’s how l started, l just wanted to play stuff that l liked – that ia the core of DJ'ing .
Any inside tips on anything new and fantastic for what's coming up on the music scene right now?
It's a very interesting time for the music industry and the sounds coming out right now. For me it's all getting a bit hard in terms of the music, everyone has gone maximal, you've got minimal but now its too tweaky here and there. Maximal to me is more about master-craft and stuff like that where every-things all pushed up and full of anger and its all a bit mad, it's gonna go back to house to wipe all this out of being so in your face. Thats whats gonna happen for us at Ronnys, we want more nostalgia, fuck this credit crunch, we' re gonna loosen our belts and listen to what we know we like.
The locations are secret, the music is marvellous, the kids are kitsch, Ronny's is THE night.
